Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali Launches 48 Million AFN Hospital Project in Kunduz
A public awareness ceremony on immunization, held under the slogan “For Every Generation,Vaccines Work” was organized by the National Expanded Program on Immunization of the Ministry of Public Health.
It was attended by the Deputy Minister for Health Services, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, directors of central directorates of the MoPH, as well as representatives of Emirate institutions, national and international organizations, and media representatives.
H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani said that public awareness can help strengthen vaccination coverage in the country. He added that good progress has been made in this area in 2026, stressing that raising awareness about vaccination is a shared responsibility of health workers, families, communities, the media, and mosque imams.
Sheikh Mohammad Tahir Halim, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Public Health, spoke about the importance of vaccination from an Islamic perspective, saying that prevention and health protection are key principles in Islam. He stressed that vaccines are not only permissible but also necessary to save lives and prevent the spread of diseases.
Ali Ahmad Saifi, Head of NEPI, said that vaccination is a global initiative and that World Immunization Week has been observed worldwide for the past 52 years. He added that it aims to raise public awareness about vaccination for a healthier future society.
He expressed appreciation to all national and international organizations working in vaccination and said that vaccines are currently administered for 11 diseases.
Representatives of UNICEF and the World Health Organization urged families to vaccinate their children to protect them from diseases. They also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and implementing vaccination programs.
