The Deputy Minister for Food and Drugs of the Ministry of Public Health of the IEA, Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, along with a technical team, held a meeting with officials of the Medicines and Medical Equipment Importers’ Association.

At the meeting held at the Deputy Minister's office for Food and Drugs, Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid listened to participants’ concerns, views, and suggestions, and assured that effective measures would be taken to address them. The meeting also highlighted new facilities for importers of medicines and medical products under the recently approved framework.

Traders were urged to strictly avoid any illegal price increases and the hoarding of medicines in the current situation, in order to maintain order in the pharmaceutical market and prevent shortages or price hikes that could cause concern among the public.

The Deputy Minister warned that strict legal action will be taken against companies or individuals involved in hoarding medicines or illegally increasing prices.

It is worth noting that the leadership of the Ministry of Public Health, especially the Food and Drug Deputy Ministry, maintains regular contact with traders to ensure timely access to medicines and to address their concerns promptly.
