Afghan Health Minister Meets International Leaders to Strengthen Healthcare Sector

The Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, His Excellency Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, convened a high-level meeting with Edwin Ceniza Salvador, the Afghanistan Country Director of the World Health Organization (WHO); Hadia Samaha, a representative of the World Bank; Kwabena Asante, the UNFPA Afghanistan Head; and senior UNICEF officials specializing in the health sector.

The dialogue revolved around addressing pressing healthcare challenges in Afghanistan, fortifying the healthcare infrastructure, and mobilizing international assistance to enhance the sector’s resilience.

H.E. Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali underscored the critical importance of a collaborative approach to bolstering healthcare services in alignment with the needs of the population. He highlighted the necessity of delivering patient care in a standardized and equitable manner, resolving systemic challenges, and fostering bilateral efforts. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to implementing transformative strategies aimed at the comprehensive development and strengthening of Afghanistan’s healthcare system.
