Ministry of Public Health Conducts High-Level Meeting on Data Collection and Decision-Making

The Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of Public Health convened a high-level meeting aimed at enhancing evidence-based decision-making through the accurate collection and analysis of health data at the national level.

The meeting was attended by His Highness, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health, alongside central and provincial directors of the ministry, representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, and a group of health professionals.

During the session, His Highness, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali emphasized the critical role of precise data collection and analysis in ensuring informed decision-making, timely emergency response, improved operational efficiency, optimal resource utilization, and effective control of infectious diseases. He urged all partner organizations to collaborate closely with the ministry in achieving these objectives.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted the importance of preventive measures, expanded vaccination coverage, transparency in operations, strengthened disease control, and enhanced coordination across all health sectors. He instructed health officials to take immediate and strategic actions in these areas.

Additionally, Dr. Enayatullah Enayat, Director General of Monitoring and Evaluation, delivered a detailed presentation on the current state of the healthcare sector and the urgency of addressing five highly prevalent diseases. He called on health authorities to develop and implement a comprehensive action plan to effectively mitigate these public health threats.

Representatives from UNICEF and WHO also contributed to the discussions, reaffirming their commitment to sustained collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and expressing their continued support in strengthening Afghanistan’s healthcare system.
