Five Food Manufacturing Facilities Inspected in Kabul City

Officials from the Risk Analysis, Food Surveillance and Standards Development Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health’s  Directorate General of Food Safety conducted risk-based inspections of five food manufacturing facilities in District 9 of Kabul City.

Key and critical points in the production and hygiene processes were identified. The factory managers were advised to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), and the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system.

Furthermore, the following items were identified and collected from the factories and transferred to a designated disposal site: insect-infested dried sour cherries, expired sodium metabisulfite, one barrel of vinegar suspected of containing industrial-grade acetic acid, six barrels of expired cherry and orange concentrate, 30 drums of unlabeled hydrogen peroxide, nine flavoring substances used in juice production, several expired laboratory reagents, 180 packages of vinegar, and 330 packages of suspected adulterated jam.
