Regular Meeting of the National Essential Medicines List Review Committee Held
The meeting was organized by the Directorate of Clinical Trials Regulation and Control of the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA) of the Ministry of Public Health. The meeting was attended by specialists from specialized hospitals, representatives of Kabul Medical University, academic staff from the Faculty of Pharmacy, and specialists from the AFDA.
During the meeting, 16 medicines proposed by private institutions and companies for inclusion in the National Essential Medicines List were thoroughly reviewed based on scientific evidence, technical standards, the healthcare needs of the country, and relevant guidelines.
Furthermore, based on the assessments, some of the proposed medicines were deemed eligible for inclusion in the National Essential Medicines List after meeting the required scientific and technical standards. However, the assessment of several other medicines was deferred due to insufficient scientific evidence and supporting documentation, pending completion of the necessary research and submission of the required documents.
