In a major step forward for women’s healthcare in the eastern province of Kunar, a fully equipped female operating theatre was inaugurated at Asadabad Provincial Hospital, following the successful completion of a project valued at AFN 1.8 million.

The newly established theatre, outfitted with both medical-grade and non-medical equipment, was constructed through the concerted efforts of the Kunar Directorate of Public Health and with financial backing from the HealthNet organization. The facility was officially handed over during a high-profile ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the province’s ongoing efforts to enhance medical infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, Director of Public Health Qari Muzaffar Khan Mukhlis expressed his deep satisfaction with the completion of the project, describing it as a game-changer for surgical care for women in the region. He also extended his gratitude to HealthNet and voiced hope for continued collaboration in future health initiatives.
