The ceremony was attended by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs; Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs; Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health; Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, Deputy Minister for Food and Drugs; and a number of other senior government officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs said that, from now on, imported food products, medicines, and health products would be tested at the laboratory to verify their quality and authenticity. He added that the facility would play an important role in preventing the importation of substandard, counterfeit, and non-compliant products, as well as in enhancing the quality of locally manufactured products.

Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs urged domestic manufacturers and businesses to ensure the quality of their products. He also called on traders to refrain from importing substandard or harmful products for financial gain, emphasizing that the importation of non-compliant products would not be permitted.

Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi said that establishing standardized laboratories across the country’s zones would help prevent the importation and production of substandard products. He added that additional laboratory facilities would be established in various zones to facilitate sample collection and expedite the testing of medicines and food products.

Meanwhile, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali said that the MoPH had strengthened its existing laboratories for testing and assessing the quality of food products and medicines. He added that, in accordance with the ministry’s plans, similar laboratories would be established in other regions across the country to help ensure the quality and safety of medicines and food products.
