Ministry of Public Health Successfully Completes Training of Trainers (ToT) on the National Guideline for the Prevention and Treatment of Acute Malnutrition

The training programme was conducted in four rounds, during which 150 nutrition specialists and relevant officials received training. In the final round, 46 specialists and officials from the central level and provinces participated. These trained professionals play an important role in planning and implementing programmes related to the prevention and treatment of acute malnutrition.

During the training, participants received standardized instruction from experienced trainers to enable them to lead the capacity-building process for frontline health workers in their respective provinces. It is expected that these trainings will further standardize and improve the implementation of nutrition services, enhance the quality of care, and strengthen reporting mechanisms across the country.

At the conclusion of the training programme, Dr. Sharafat Zaman, Spokesperson and Director of Information, Public Relations of the Ministry of Public Health, emphasized the importance of programmes for the prevention and treatment of acute malnutrition in the country. He stated that through such programmes, high-quality and standardized health and nutrition services can be provided to millions of mothers and children across the country.

Similarly, Dr. Hikmatullah Masoomi, Director of Public Nutrition, expressed his appreciation to the trainers, partner organizations, and supporters of the training programme. He urged the participants to effectively apply the knowledge and skills they had acquired in their respective areas of work.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gilbert Dachi, UNICEF Nutrition Manager, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of the Ministry of Public Health and reaffirmed UNICEF’s continued support for programmes aimed at the prevention and treatment of acute malnutrition.

It is worth noting that in recent years, the Public Nutrition Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health has taken significant and effective steps to strengthen the capacity of nutrition programmes, enhance the professional competencies of health workers, and expand standardized nutrition services. These efforts are ongoing.
