Six-Day Refresher Training on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition Conducted for Nutrition Counselors in Farah Province
A six-day refresher training on Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) was held for 61 nutrition counselors from 65 clinics in Farah province.
The program was held over six days under the guidance of Dr. Mohammad Wali Ahmadzai, Director of Public Health of Farah Province, in collaboration with Relief International Organization. It was conducted in line with the standards, guidelines, and policies of the Ministry of Public Health of the IEA of Afghanistan. During the training, participants were taught both theoretical and practical aspects of maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.
Participants actively took part in training discussions, group work, case studies, and experience sharing, and improved their knowledge and skills in nutrition counseling, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, prevention of malnutrition, and other related areas.
The officials also encouraged participants to put their learning into practice in their respective health facilities and to play an active role in improving the nutritional status of mothers and children.
