MoPH Signs $2.6 Million Agreement with AKF to Improve Child Nutrition and Reduce Stunting

The Ministry of Public Health has signed a $2,601,610 contract with the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) to implement an initiative in Badakhshan and Baghlan provinces aimed at reducing childhood stunting, improving children’s nutritional status, and reducing the prevalence of low birth weight at birth.

The one-year contract was signed to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services and address the health needs of the local communities. Under the contract, 218,384 residents of the two provinces will benefit from healthcare services delivered through 74 health facilities, while 178 employment opportunities will be created in the healthcare sector.

Representatives of the AKF assured that the project would be implemented in accordance with all established standards over the course of one year, with particular attention to addressing the healthcare needs of the local population.
