A four-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on the National Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Acute Malnutrition was conducted for nutrition managers from all 34 provinces of Afghanistan.

The guideline, which was officially launched recently, covers the prevention and management of acute malnutrition among children under five years of age and their mothers, including both inpatient and outpatient treatment programmes.

Dr. Hikmatullah Masoumi, Director of Public Nutrition of the Ministry of Public Health, welcomed the participants and thanked the technical team of the Public Nutrition Directorate, UNICEF, and national nutrition trainers for their efforts in organizing the workshop. He underscored the importance of applying and effectively implementing the knowledge and skills gained during the training.

During the workshop, all sections of the “Prevention and Management of Wasting Guidelines” were presented and taught by experienced trainers from across the country.
