Ministry of Public Health Holds Coordination Meeting with WTO on Trade Commitments and Facilitation
The Deputy Minister's Office for Food and Drugs of the Ministry of Public Health held a coordination meeting with the World Trade Organization (WTO) to discuss the country’s trade commitments.
The meeting, aimed at facilitating Afghanistan’s trade with international markets, brought together officials from the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, Agriculture, representatives from the General Directorate of Planning and Policy, and heads of the Deputy Minister’s Office for pharmaceutical departments.
Dr Naeemullah Ayoubi, Director General of Medicines and Health Products Regulation, described such meetings as vital for easing trade in the country, particularly in the export and import of medicines and food products. He briefed participants on recent facilitation measures introduced by the Directorate, including the issuance of health certificates for exportable food items.
Dr Ayoubi stressed that the Deputy Minister's Office for Food and Drugs remains committed to fully implementing all WTO obligations.
Meanwhile, Abdul Wakil Muslim, Head of WTO, delivered a presentation on key trade-related issues and provided guidance to participants.
Afghanistan joined the World Trade Organization in 2016.
