A joint delegation comprising representatives from the National Drug Treatment Program and the Directorate of Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Public Health, together with officials from the Deputy Minister's Office for Counter-Narcotics  of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, embarked on an official mission to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The delegation will review the monitoring mechanisms of Iran’s drug treatment centers and hold discussions with senior officials from the country’s Anti-Narcotics Authority and rehabilitation institutions to exchange insights and best practices.

This mission is to design a comprehensive and practical framework for Afghanistan’s national strategy on drug treatment, prevention, and control, informed by Iran’s extensive experience in these areas.

Additionally, the delegation will gather in-depth knowledge of Iran’s advanced methodologies in addiction treatment and prevention to enhance Afghanistan’s domestic programs—making them more effective, evidence-based, and aligned with international standards.
