For the First Time in Afghanistan’s Public Health Sector, Pediatric Heart Surgery and Hemodialysis Units Inaugurated

In a special ceremony held for this purpose, the Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi; Deputy Minister for Health Services, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, central directors of the ministry, directors of national hospitals, medical staff of Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital, representatives of the World Health Organization, UNICEF, Emergency Foundation, Red Cross, Afghan Red Crescent, and members of the media were present.
During the event, the Minister of Public Health said:
“It is a moment of joy and pride that, for the very first time in Afghanistan’s public sector, paediatric open-heart surgeries and a haemodialysis unit have been launched at Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital. I consider this a historic step towards delivering super-specialized medical services. Our national medical team has already successfully carried out three open-heart surgeries in this new unit.”
