AFDA Conducts Extensive Food Regulation and Licensing Activities in Sunbula 1405
During Sunbula 1405, the Directorate of Food Licensing, Registration and Authorisation under the Afghanistan Food and Drugs Authority (AFDA) of the Ministry of Public Health carried out numerous technical and operational activities related to food regulation, registration, licensing, and market supply.
During this period, 65 food products were submitted to the Quality Control Laboratory for testing, while five additional food products were sent to the Faculty of Pharmacy for microbiological testing. Furthermore, following confirmation of the laboratory test results, clearance was granted for 69 types of water and food products and 27 types of confectionery products intended for children.
In addition, 18 food products were rejected due to incomplete documentation, non-compliant packaging or labeling, or unsatisfactory laboratory test results. In the areas of licensing and exports, three operating licenses and 14 Export Health Certificates were issued to food manufacturing companies.
Furthermore, work is ongoing to develop the Food Safety Law and its accompanying regulations. In addition, several procedures and guidelines have been finalized covering product registration, licensing of food manufacturing facilities, food product market authorization, hygiene and sanitation, disciplinary provisions, and regulatory inspection checklists.
