The session was held to strengthen operational coordination between the ministry and the provinces, and to improve the overall condition of mental health patients nationwide, as well as to reinforce mental health services across the country.
During the meeting, Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani stressed that the treatment of mental health patients is a top priority, in line with a directive from the Amir al-Muminin, and underscored the need to establish a systematic, comprehensive and effective mechanism in every province to ensure that healthcare services are delivered equitably to all citizens.
He further added that dedicated, well-organised and fully equipped facilities must be established for mental health patients, so that the processes of diagnosis, care and treatment can be conducted in a standardised manner within an appropriate clinical management environment.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Directors of Public Health shared their views, challenges and concerns regarding mental health services. The Deputy Minister assured participants that these issues would be thoroughly reviewed, and that practical measures would be taken to address them.
