The Ministry of Public Health, through the National Expanded Program on Immunization (NEPI) and with financial support from the GAVI Alliance, and technical assistance from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, announces the successful completion of the measles vaccination campaign in 17 provinces: Kabul, Balkh, Badakhshan, Takhar, Panjshir, Logar, Paktia, Wardak, Ghazni, Paktika, Daikundi, Ghor, Faryab, Badghis, Baghlan, Bamiyan, and Sar-e-Pul.
Approximately 8.3 million children aged six months to ten years were vaccinated against measles as part of this campaign.
This achievement represents a significant step in protecting children’s health and enhancing immunity against measles across the country.
The second phase of the campaign will commence shortly in the remaining 17 provinces to ensure nationwide coverage of all eligible children.
