Afghanistan’s public health minister, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, joined health ministers from 23 countries during an official visit to India, speaking at the sidelines of the WHO’s second Global Summit on Traditional Medicine.

The meeting focused on sharing experiences, strengthening traditional medicine, and expanding cooperation. H.E. Jalali said standardised traditional treatments can widen access to healthcare and build public trust in health systems.

He said the summit aimed to support implementation of the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy for 2025–2034, which promotes evidence-based practice, safe use, system integration, and community empowerment.

Jalali said Afghanistan supports the strategy and is committed to aligning its traditional medicine policies, curricula, and regulations with international standards.

Other health ministers stressed the need for stronger coordination, pledging continued cooperation to strengthen health systems and expand global collaboration in traditional medicine.
