Acting Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs Holds Nationwide Online Meeting to Review Enforcement of Pharmaceutical Import Directive
Dr. Naeemullah Ayoubi, Director-General of Pharmaceuticals, Health Products and Acting Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs of the Ministry of Public Health, held an online meeting with inspection officials from all provinces.
The meeting aimed to review the implementation of a directive issued by the Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office, which called for halting the import of pharmaceuticals from Pakistan. Participants discussed several regulatory priorities, including regular monitoring of food and drug facilities, price control measures, and the prevention of illegal practices such as hoarding, counterfeiting, and the spread of misinformation.
It was noted that Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Hamad, Director of Monitoring and Inspection, emphasized the establishment of joint committees and the need for targeted inspections at both central and district levels. He also called for strict action against offenders.
Provincial representatives confirmed their commitment to enforcing the directive and outlined the challenges faced in their respective regions. Dr. Ayoubi assured them the concerns raised had been recorded and that appropriate steps would be taken to address them.
