MoPH Inaugurates 200-kilowatt Solar Power System at Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Specialized Hospital

A 200-kilowatt solar power system, valued at $300,000, was installed at Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Specialized Hospital and officially inaugurated during a ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister for Health Services of the Ministry of Public Health; Dr. Enayatullah Enayat, Director of Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Specialized Hospital; Mr. Turhan Saleh, Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office in Afghanistan; Ms.Veronika Boskovic Pohar, Representative of the European Union in Afghanistan; and a representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

While thanking the UNDP and other health partners of the MoPH for their support, the Deputy Minister for Health Services described the installation of the solar power system at Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Specialized Hospital as a significant step toward addressing power shortages, improving the quality of healthcare services, strengthening the hospital’s oxygen supply system, saving patients’ lives, and reducing environmental pollution. He called on the hospital’s management to take greater care in maintaining the system and ensuring its proper and efficient use.

It is worth noting that the solar power system was completed within three and a half months at a cost of $300,000, with financial and technical support from the UNDP in Afghanistan, and was officially inaugurated today at a ceremony.
