Afghanistan and India Discuss Strengthening Health Cooperation During Minister Jalali’s Official Visit

Afghanistan’s public health minister, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, has met senior Indian officials during an official visit to India, including the country’s minister for environment, forests and climate change and minister of state for external affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh.

The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in the health sector, with particular emphasis on capacity building, the long-term supply of medicines and broader development cooperation in public health.

H.E. Jalali the Minister of Public Health of the IEA said Afghanistan was seeking to deepen health-sector ties with India, especially in training Afghan medical professionals, adding that sharing expertise could help improve environmental protection and disease prevention.

India’s environment minister reaffirmed New Delhi’s support for the health security of the Afghan people, saying India would continue to cooperate with Afghan authorities in a number of key areas.
