Monitoring and Inspection officials from the Ministry of Public Health’s Deputy Minister's Office for Food and Drugs inspected wholesale medicine shops and pharmacies in the Baharistan area of Kabul Province. The team focused on regulating prices, preventing hoarding, ensuring product quality, and enforcing health standards. As a concrete outcome, two pharmacies were closed for overpricing and violating established regulations.

Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Hamad, Director of Inspection and Surveillance of Pharmaceuticals, Health Products, and Food Safety, explained that following the ban on importing medicines from Pakistan, some pharmacies and wholesalers raised prices arbitrarily and engaged in hoarding. He noted that systematic oversight has now been implemented to ensure citizens have access to fairly priced, quality medicines and to prevent further price manipulation and supply abuses
