The Ministry of Public Health held a launch meeting for the National Guideline and Implementation Plan for Acute Malnutrition
The meeting was attended by Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister for Health Services of the Ministry of Public Health, ministry directors, representatives from WHO, World Food Program (WFP), UNICEF, and members of the media.
Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani stated:
Malnutrition is a serious threat to children’s lives, mental development, and future, with effects that extend from the family to the wider community.
He added that the Ministry of Public Health is committed to implementing the guideline in remote areas, raising awareness, and strengthening maternal and child health with national and international partners.
Dr. Hikmatullah Masoomi, Director of Public Nutrition of the Ministry of Public Health, said:
The main goal of developing this guideline is to have a national, evidence-based, scientific guide aligned with international standards and the country’s context, which is clear, simple, and can be implemented for health workers.
Representatives from the World Health Organization, the World Food Programme (WFP), and UNICEF delivered detailed speeches and pledged full cooperation in the prevention and management of acute malnutrition.
