The event was attended by the Deputy Minister for Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Public Health, Qari Abdul Wali Siddiqi, along with several central directors, representatives of the World Health Organization, UNDP, UNODC, and members of the media.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Qari Abdul Wali Siddiqi highlighted the critical importance of expanding public awareness in the effective fight against AIDS, stating that the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan remains fully committed to providing equitable, effective, and high-quality healthcare services to the public across all sectors.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Preventive Medicine, Dr Haider Khan Haider, said in his address that AIDS is one of the major global threats to humanity, stressing that all preventive measures must be observed to curb its spread. He further added that public awareness must be enhanced and that diagnostic and treatment services should be expanded.

At the same event, the Head of Afghanistan’s National Programme for the Control of Communicable Diseases (AIDS and Hepatitis), Dr Abdulrahman Shireen Dil, shared detailed information about the programme’s activities and achievements in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Representatives of the World Health Organization and UNDP also delivered presentations on the risks of AIDS and preventive strategies, aimed at controlling and ultimately halting the spread of the deadly disease.
