Deputy Minister of Food and Drugs Meets Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment

Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid, Deputy Minister for Food and Drugs of the Ministry of Public Health, met with members of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment to discuss improving medicine import, production, and pharmaceutical industry development.

During the meeting, representatives of the Chamber welcomed recent efforts to regulate the medicine market and shared proposals to strengthen domestic production. They requested land allocation for pharmaceutical factories, faster import procedures for companies and international organizations, and measures for coded prescriptions and clear price labeling on medicine packaging.

The deputy minister appreciated the private sector’s role in meeting pharmaceutical needs and reaffirmed commitment to facilitating processes, addressing challenges, and supporting investment in medicine production. He also noted progress in establishing the pharmaceutical industrial park in Mer bacha kot, Kabul, and emphasized that self-sufficiency in medicine production is a key priority.

In conclusion, he welcomed traders’ interest in investing in medicine production, calling it an important step toward strengthening the national economy, developing the pharmaceutical industry, and ensuring sustainable healthcare supply.
