"The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is seeking expressions of interest in the area of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) – Nutrition in Afghanistan.  
Applicants will be responsible for ensuring the proposed project furthers the objectives of the Government of Canada and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the area of MNCH and should make a direct, tangible and significant contribution in at least two of the following areas:

1.       Strengthen communities’ capacity to respond to the nutritional needs and priorities of women and children as part of the Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS);

2.       Improve the quality of nutrition services provided by BPHS implementers in a cost-effective and sustainable manner; or

3.       Improve nutrition surveillance in Afghanistan.

Subject to availability of funds, CIDA intends to provide funding for proposal (s) of a maximum of CAN $19.8 million to be allocated over a three-year period. CIDA reserves the right to fund any number of or none of the Project Proposals submitted for consideration.
