French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) in Kabul gets WHO membership

Dr. Fatimie in his speech said that: I am proud of participating in this ceremony of awarding WHO membership certificate to the FMIC. This event is not only a pride for 435 health personnel of the institute but it is also a pride for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, MoPH, French government and the Agh Khan Foundation. Dr. Fatimie added that the president of Afghanistan and the leadership of the MoPH emphasize on the continuation of cooperation with this institute. The institute has a sound and active administration and provides quality health care. This success was undoubtedly possible because of support from our friends in France and Agha Khan Foundation. According to the policy of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan these health services will be delivered to the needy people in an equitable manner.

Minister of Public Health also appreciated the recent nine million dollars contribution by France to the maternity ward of FMIC and added that this institute is like a flashing diamond on the crown of the Ministry of Public Health.

In this ceremony the French Ambassador in Kabul emphasized on its government’s long term assistance in the Health Sector of Afghanistan and said that the new nine million Dollars contribution is assisted for the maternity ward of this institute.

In this ceremony Mr. Shahidi Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Economy, representatives from other Ministries, Mr. Peter Grraff, Representative of World Health Organization in Afghanistan and Dr. Obaidullah Obaid Chancellor of Kabul Medical University were also present.

FMIC was inaugurated by the President of Afghanistan, Mr. Hamed Karzai in the Kabul Medical University and from that time onward the Institute has been delivering medical services for children especially in the area of heart surgery.

It is mentionable that the surgical operations on children are done in accordance to the European standards.
